Retina Specialist

Dr. Amit Kumar is a board-certified retina specialist with over 18 years of experience. He earned his bachelor's degree and medical degree from Boston University as part of the Seven Year Medical Program. His internship was in Medicine and Surgery at Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Massachusetts. He was selected for Ophthalmology Residency at University Medical Center/State University of New York, Stony Brook program in Long Island.

Following hisresidency, Dr. Kumar completed a fellowship in Ophthalmic Pathology and worked with world renowned ophthalmologist, Dr. Daniel Albert at the University of Wisconsin Madison. He then pursued further specialization by completing a two-year fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at University of Texas, prior to opening his practice in Cary, NC.
